1) What is MU CAUSA?
The Cuban American Undergraduate Student Association is a student organization at the University of Missouri-Columbia whose aims are:
- To advance and aid the effort for a free and democratic Cuba.
- To educate and raise awareness of the political and socioeconomic situation in Cuba (as well as the situation of the Cuban exile community), encouraging others to take an interest in the struggle for the freedom and democratization of Cuba.
- To raise awareness of and celebrate Cuban culture in a way that is consistent with the two goals mentioned above.
CAUSA is affiliated with Raíces de Esperanza, as are Cuban American student groups all over the country, some of which go by the same name ("CAUSA").

Why do the Cuban people need my help?
When Fidel Castro toom power in 1959, he did so by misleading the Cuban people about his intentions, promising democracy, a freedom of speech, a free press, and that he would not be Cuba's head of state for any longer than a transitional period.
Today, Fidel is still Cuba's Communist dictator for life. His regime has jailed, tortured, and executed countless Cubans who were guilty of nothing more than standing in opposition to Castro and his abuses. The independent press has been illegalized. Freedom of association has been eradicated. Elections are free insofar as the people are forced to freely choose between members of the same abusive party.
The Cuban people are starving for change, and they may never see it if the rest opf the world does not at least recognize the situation they are in.
